The Annapurna circuit is a classic Himalayan favorite of trekkers, but new road development has given this old route a rebirth for mountain bikers…and what a rebirth it is! The new trails offer fast riding on dirt jeep roads mixed in with technical single tracks still used by trekkers. The trip will take you through traditional farming villages of the Gurung and Manangi people in the central part of the Nepali Himalayas with birds eye views of imitating 8000 m giants such Annapurna, Dhaulagiri and Manaslu. The first part of the trip is mostly uphill with slow steady gains to reach the highest point in Thorung pass (5416 m). Your reward from Thorung pass is a sweet technical downhill, descending 1600 m on switchbacks to the holi town of Muktinath. From here, the descent continues through towns of the lower Mustang including Kagbeni and Jomsom. This full trip is from 16 days, and can be 14 days taking a side trip to Tilicho snow-lake.
